About Laura
Laura K. Nicoll is originally from Mt. Desert Island, Maine and currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Dance and arts-marketing have been her primary jobs for sustaining financial, thus creative freedom. Prior to moving to New York in 2007, Laura was a member of Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, where she was also a union representative, and danced on a cruise ship. Since 2008, Laura has provided marketing, communications, branding, strategic planning, and producing support to non-profit organizations, festivals, and individual artists. She has worked for The Atlantic Festival, Little Island’s inaugural festival NYC FREE curated by Mikki Shepard, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council / River To River Festival, Performance Space New York (PS122) / COIL Festival. In NYC she has performed at 3LD Art & Technology Center, Abrons Arts Center, The Tank, and The Kraine. In Maine, her work has been supported by residencies at Bates Dance Festival, Opera House Arts, and Mechanic’s Hall as well as performance opportunities as part of Portland Dance Month, Maine Moves, and her video work has been shown as part of L/A Arts’ virtual artwalk and as part of the biennial at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.
