Celebrate the exciting and entertaining tradition of the street dance battle at this one-night-only event. After a day of one-on-one preliminary competition, the finalists in each of the three dance forms: Breakin, Hip Hop and House will compete for bragging rights and cash prizes, in the first annual BDF x CRĀV Summer Battle. A champion will be determined by guest judges Michele “Ladybyrd” Byrd-McPhee, Anthony “YNOT” Denaro, and Emilio “Buddha Stretch” Austin Jr. The evening’s emcee is Jackie “Miss Funk” Lopez and music will be provided by Daniel “DJ DP One” Pinero.
After the winners of BDF X CRĀV’s 2024 Summer Battle are named, the evening will conclude with a finale performance from three renowned street-dance artists and groups. Witness the jaw-dropping talent of Maine-based breaking crew, Boogie Toonz Klick, the Northeast artist collective CONcept ARTists (or ConArt), and BDF Faculty Jackie “Miss Funk” Lopez, who will serve as the emcee for the Battle portion of the event. Boogie Toonz Kick’s crew will showcase their energy, skill, and passion that define the art and culture of breaking. CONcept ARTists will be performing an exciting trio choreography with elements of House, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance. Finally, the imitable “Miss Funk” will share a solo performance showcasing her love of Hip Hop/streetdance for which she has been practitioner of for over 25 years. This show will be high-energy and not-to-be-missed!
