About Courtney

Named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2012, Courtney D. Jones is a versatile professional dancer, educator, and actress. A Presidential Scholar in the Arts for Choreography, she graduated with honors from SUNY Purchase, earning a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Psychology.

After graduation, Courtney performed with the Kevin Wynn Collection and joined Jennifer Muller/The Works, where she taught and toured internationally for four seasons. With a growing interest in theatre, she signed with the McDonald/Selznick Associates (MSA) talent agency and joined the cast of Show Boat in 2008 accomplishing a long-standing goal to perform at Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and went on to join Broadway’s First National Tour of WICKED in 2009 further solidifying her presence in the performing arts. She continues this passion serving as a Choreographer for professional productions at Theatre Under the Stars, Stages Theatre, Houston Grand Opera and AD Players Theatre in Houston, TX. 

From 2010 to 2014, Courtney performed in Houston with Hope Stone Dance Company, serving as the Assistant Director of Hope Stone Dance II. Her stage credits include notable productions such as Auntie Mame, Panto Pinocchio, and Failure: A Love Story at Stages Theatre, as well as performances with the Houston Grand Opera and Theatre Under the Stars.

Courtney’s impact extends to education, where she has been a highly sought-after consultant and adjunct faculty member at the University of Houston, teaching modern dance and company classes. She has also collaborated as a guest choreographer with esteemed institutions and festivals, including the Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive in NYC and the Bates Dance Festival.

In 2014, she co-founded the Houston Dance Collective alongside fellow professional dancers, aiming to provide ongoing training and support to the local dance community through open classes. Though currently on hiatus, the Collective continues to inspire aspiring dancers.

Today, Courtney serves as a full-time dance teacher at the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where she instructs modern dance, musical theatre dance technique, and dance composition, among other subjects. Her freelance work as a choreographer and guest teacher through her CDJ Dance Project has led her to various theaters and festivals, where her innovative choreography has been showcased. Courtney remains dedicated to nurturing the next generation of artists in the dynamic world of dance and theater.
