The Bates Dance Festival (BDF) Archive presents an historical overview of an important segment of the contemporary dance community through a collection of print, image and video records. The collection spans the festival’s history, represented by BDF’s activities and artists from 1984 to the present and includes videotapes of performances, research material about the artists, planning, financial, and administrative records of the festival, and publicity material.
Through ongoing development of its holdings, user access, and connections to other important dance archives, The BDF collection is open for research to the dance community of artists, educators, students, scholars, and to the general public at the Edmund S. Muskie Archives and Special Collections Library at Bates College.
