Sarah Konner, Miguel Alejandro Castillo, Erin Kouwe, and Jeanine Durning will be in residence for nine days to continue collaborative work on Acts after Ends.

Acts after Ends navigates the complex emotions of desire, grief, urgency, and purpose in a rapidly changing world. Set within a room full of disorganized objects, three performers continuously reframe scenes that blur the boundaries between memory, present, and possibility. Through movement and speech, the work confronts how to create meaning and connection in times of uncertainty, asking how we can rebuild over and over in response to loss. Using Durning’s nonstopping performance style, Acts after Ends challenges how we maintain agency and reimagine new possibilities for togetherness amid chaos, while embracing the fragility of decision-making.

Acts after Ends originated when Sarah, Miguel, and Erin were students at Smith. Through a shared improvisational practice they are embarking on a series of residencies to further develop this practice-based performance. All of the artists have been to BDF in the past as students and as dancers with companies.
