Trisha Brown Repertory
This week we are delving into the repertory material and conceptual mind of postmodern choreographer Trisha Brown.
The course/lab focuses on building the essential skills of a contemporary dance artist with heightened awareness and sensibilities. This will inform the dancers ability to “read” and translate diverse visual inputs as well as interpret and expand their creative output.
Working with the body and the mind, this day-by-day deepening of our understanding of self and our relations, both in terms of instinctual choices through improvisation and movements expands our perception. This focus together with Trisha Brown repertory material, will serve our ability and possibility, to express and interpret, through our experience – new sensibilities.
This week will consist of a kinetic warm up drawing on body-preparation for deeper understanding towards full dancing mode. Body based improvisation towards intuitive realization with emphasis on dance as dialogue, to deeper understand the work of Trisha Brown. The text and repertory material will augment the overall understanding of her place in history and add and develop another body logic and knowledge, instigating an increase in perception and the ability to do, see and feel.
